I am in love with planning theme nights with my children. It is such a wonderful way to learn about other countries and have a fun time, too. Over at Planner Perfect I get into the details of how to plan for these, themed nights and I used Italy as my first example.
China is on the agenda for one of our days this week over here at Homeschooling Belle and I thought I’d share with you some of our fun we had planned.
We made Chinese lanterns for our China party
Tools Needed:
Construction paper
colors or markers
scissors
glue sticks
They were a lot of fun to make; I got the idea from Family Fun. Have your child color pretty designs on a standard 81/2 x 11 construction paper and fold length-wise. Then using scissors, cut 1-inch strips along the seam leaving a 1-inch border on the top and sides. Open and glue the short edges together and making a handle for the top. Hang these as above to create beautiful decore for your Chinese theme.
Read about China at your local library or book store.
I love going to Borders to read about our chosen country. For one, we don’t have to be so quiet, and two, we can order our favorite hot cocoas and lattes! Nothing beats reading together while enjoying our favorite beverages…even my two-year-old, reads his favorite books. Everyone can join in on the fun.
Make your family’s favorite Chinese food…it will be the hit of the night!
We made homemade ramen for our first course, crab rangoons and chicken egg rolls as our main entree, and last but not least, homemade fortune cookies with special messages made by yours truly. It was such a fun night!
Chop sticks were a must at this special dinner and everyone had a fun time trying to use them.
Make homemade fortune cookies.
Fun and easy to make, nothing beats making it from scratch and inserting your own messages. We had a blast ending our meal with special messages. Click above to get this easy and fun recipe!
This was our night opening our homemade fortune cookies and I asked for everyone to read their special messages. My oldest son didn’t kiss me like his fortune instructed.
